BIGGER MUST BE BETTERGood things come in small packages. It’s true. And people keep forgetting that bigger is not always better. Not in every case. If you know how to work with it, the small green house can be as profitable and effective as the great big green house. It’s all about how smart you use the space you have, organizing your growing, and careful selection of your material. If you are a one or two person green house grower, you would be overwhelmed in a large commercial green house and you would not be as profitable. Plant loss would be more extensive that it would be in a small green house that is manageable by one or two people. Bigger, in this case, may only be better in terms of the bloom of your flowers or the size of your tomatoes. Making the Most of Your Small Green House It all starts with the decision on placement of your small green house. If you are limited on space, then the part of it you allot to your small green house becomes that much more valuable, so placing it optimally is very important. Be careful as you consider not only the sun you want for your green house, but just where you might want the rest of your garden as well. It wouldn’t do to place it, and then later remember that happened to be just where you wanted to place a focal point for your garden. Now that you know where you are putting your small green house, it is a good idea to consider just how you want to use it. Many people with a small green house only use it seasonally to winter plants that may not be able to stay on the outside during the cold. This allows them to have plants they might not be able to without the greenhouse. Once you decide on where and how, it might be good to think for a bit about what you want to use your small green house for. This means looking carefully at the plants you want for your garden, and sorting out which ones might need the green house and which not. With a small green house, this process has to be a bit more involved, as space is at such a premium. Therefore, the plants need to be special plants that you really want to have, but might not be able to have due to your climate zone. After you have made all the selections, the smaller space will require you to organize carefully. You will most likely not have room in your small green house for storage, so you will have to have some place for your tools and extra pots and so forth arranged. Now you can see that, through careful planning and selection, the size of your green house should not be that great an issue. |
